Narayaneeyam Dasakam 29 - Amrutha Aaharanam and Asura Nigraham
Lord appeared in Dhanvantri form, carrying pot of nectar in his two hands from the Milky Ocean. Asuras snatched the pot rendering devas helpless. Lord consoled them and disappeared. Prompted by Maaya, asuras started to fight amongst themselves on distribution of nectar between themselves.
Devas and other divine Gods, pleaded Lord to interfere and help them get the divine nectar. Lord took a form of beautiful young maiden, Mohini. On seeing her, Asuras stopped their quarrel and got attracted to her instantaneously. They even gave the responsibility of apportioning the nectar to her.
Mohini made asuras and devas sit in two separate rows and while keeping asuras attracted to her charming personality, she distributed the entire nectar to the Devas, who are Lord's devotees. Lord took original form and beheaded Raahu, an asura who sat cunningly along with devas and had half of the nectar.
Lord disappeared after punishing the asuras for snatching the pot of nectar from his hands. Angry with the cheating, Asuras battled fiercely with devas making them almost swoon by their mightiness and magic. Lord reappeared and killed Kaaalnemi, Maali and other Asuras while Indra killed Bali, Jaambavaan, Vaali and Paakaasura. Naamuchi who could not be killed by either dry or wet weapons was cut off by a weapon made of foam. The fight was stopped following Sage Narada's advice.
Lord Shiva heard about the appearance of Lord Vishnu in form of Mohini. He became eager to see and went to Lord's abode along with Goddess Uma and Bhoothaganaas. Lord appeared in Mohini form with beautiful eyes at one corner of a garden, Although Lord Shiva was a conqueror of Kaamadeva, still he could not resist his desire to embrace the Lord.
Lord Shiva followed Mohini for some time, then he obtained the knowledge of the Brahmam and sang the glory of Lord. Lord honoured Shiva, who then narrated Lord's greatness to Goddess Uma. Bhattathiri totally awestruck at Lord's glory, requests that he be protected.

Dasakam: 29-- Shlokam: 01
उद्गच्छतस्तव करादमृतं हरत्सु
दैत्येषु तानशरणाननुनीय देवान् ।
सद्यस्तिरोदधिथ देव भवत्प्रभावा-
दुद्यत्स्वयूथ्यकलहा दितिजा बभूवु: ॥१॥
udgachChatastava karaadamR^itaM haratsu
daityeShu taanasharaNaananuniiya devaan |
sadyastirOdadhitha deva bhavatprabhaavaat
udyatsvayuuthya kalahaa ditijaa babhuuvuH || 1
Thou emerged from the ocean as Dhanvantri holding the pot of nectar which the Asuras snatched from Thy hands. The devas became helpless. After consoling them, Thou immediately disappeared. O Lord! Then prompted by Thy Mayaa the Asuras started to quarrel amongst themselves.
श्यामां रुचाऽपि वयसाऽपि तनुं तदानीं
प्राप्तोऽसि तुङ्गकुचमण्डलभंगुरां त्वम् ।
पीयूषकुम्भकलहं परिमुच्य सर्वे
तृष्णाकुला: प्रतिययुस्त्वदुरोजकुम्भे ॥२॥
shyaamaaM ruchaa(a)pi vayasaa(a)pi tanuM tadaaniiM
praaptO(a)si tungakuchamaNDala bhanguraaM tvam |
piiyuuSha kumbhakalahaM parimuchya sarve
tR^iShNaakulaaH pratiyayustvadurOjakumbhe || 2Thou then took the form of a beautiful young maiden - beautiful by complexion, slightly leaning forward, owing to the weight of her heavy breasts. All the Asuras abandoned their quarrel about the pot of nectar came running toward Thee, extremely attracted by the sight of Thy pot-like breasts.
का त्वं मृगाक्षि विभजस्व सुधामिमामि-
त्यारूढरागविवशानभियाचतोऽमून् ।
विश्वस्यते मयि कथं कुलटाऽस्मि दैत्या
इत्यालपन्नपि सुविश्वसितानतानी: ॥३॥
kaa tvaM mR^igaakshi vibhajasva sudhaamimaam
ityaaruuDharaagavivashaanabhiyaachatO( a)muun |
vishvasyate mayi kathaM kulaTaa(a)smi daityaaH
ityaalapannapi suvishvasitaanataaniiH || 3
The demons openly wondering about this deer eyed beauty, entreated Thee, in that Mohini form to apportion the nectar among them. Thou, teasingly reminded them that ‘How do you trust me? O Asuras, as I am a whore.' Even though Thou said so, Thou commanded their trust. but this flippant reply only boosted their faith in Thee.

मोदात् सुधाकलशमेषु ददत्सु सा त्वं
दुश्चेष्टितं मम सहध्वमिति ब्रुवाणा ।
पङ्क्तिप्रभेदविनिवेशितदेवदैत्या
लीलाविलासगतिभि: समदा: सुधां ताम् ॥४॥
mOdaat sudhaakalasha-meShu dadatsu saa tvaM
dushcheShTitaM mama sahadhvamiti bruvaaNaa |
pankti prabheda viniveshita deva daityaa
liilaavilaasa gatibhissamadaassudhaaM taam ||4
The demons joyfully gave the vessel of nectar to Thee in the form of Mohini. Thou, cautioning them to bear with Thy whimsical behavior, made the gods and demons sit in separate rows and began serving the nectar only to the gods. The demons entranced by Thy seductive walk and movements, sat quietly.

अस्मास्वियं प्रणयिणीत्यसुरेषु तेषु
जोषं स्थितेष्वथ समाप्य सुधां सुरेषु ।
त्वं भक्तलोकवशगो निजरूपमेत्य
स्वर्भानुमर्धपरिपीतसुधं व्यलावी: ॥५॥
asmaasviyaM praNayiniityasureShu teShu
jOShaM sthiteShvatha samaapya sudhaaM sureShu |
tvaM bhaktalOkavashagO nijaruupametya
svarbhaanumardhaparipiita sudhaM vyalaaviiH || 5
While the demons sat silent, believing that she (Mohini), loves them, Thou, who loves Thy devotees, distributed the nectar fully among the gods, Thou always favour Thy devotees. Then Thou took Thy own form, and beheaded the Asura Raahu who had drunk half of the nectar served to him which he cunningly got by sitting in the row of the Devas.
त्वत्त: सुधाहरणयोग्यफलं परेषु
दत्वा गते त्वयि सुरै: खलु ते व्यगृह्णन् ।
घोरेऽथ मूर्छति रणे बलिदैत्यमाया-
व्यामोहिते सुरगणे त्वमिहाविरासी: ॥६॥
tvattaH sudhaaharaNayOgyaphalaM pareShu
datvaa gate tvayi suraiH khalu te vyagR^ihNan |
ghOre(a)tha muurchChati raNe balidaityamaaya
vyaamOhite suragaNe tvamihaaviraasiiH || 6
Having meted out to the Asuras the punishment for snatching away the pot of nectar from thy hands, Thou departed. The Asuras again started a fight with the devas. In the thick of the fierce battle, the Devas were reduced to a state of swoon by the Asura Bali's magical arts. Thou then reappeared in the battle field.
त्वं कालनेमिमथ मालिमुखाञ्जघन्थ
शक्रो जघान बलिजम्भवलान् सपाकान् ।
शुष्कार्द्रदुष्करवधे नमुचौ च लूने
फेनेन नारदगिरा न्यरुणो रणं त्वं ॥७॥
tvaM kaalanemimatha maalimukhaanjaghantha
shakrO jaghaana balijambhavalaan sapaakaan |
shuShkaardra duShkaravadhe namuchau cha luune
phenena naaradagiraa nyaruNO raNaM tvam || 7
In the battle Thou killed Kaalanemi, Maali and other Asuras. Indra killed Bali, Jaambavaan, Vaali, along with Paakaasura. Naamuchi who could not be killed by either dry or wet weapons was cut off by a weapon made of foam. Thou then stopped the battle on the advice of Narada.
योषावपुर्दनुजमोहनमाहितं ते
श्रुत्वा विलोकनकुतूहलवान् महेश: ।
भूतैस्समं गिरिजया च गत: पदं ते
स्तुत्वाऽब्रवीदभिमतं त्वमथो तिरोधा: ॥८॥
yOShaa vapurdanujamOhanamaahitaM te
shrutvaa vilOkana kutuuhalavaan maheshaH |
bhuutaissamaM girijayaa cha gataH padaM te
stutvaa(a)braviidabhimataM tvamathO tirOdhaaH ||8
Learning about the female form Thou took to tempt the Asuras, Lord Siva, curious to see Thy Mohini form, came to Thy abode with his attendants, the Bhutaganas, and Parvati Devi, and having praised Thee, expressed his desire to Thee. At this, Thou vanished.

आरामसीमनि च कन्दुकघातलीला-
लोलायमाननयनां कमनीं मनोज्ञाम् ।
त्वामेष वीक्ष्य विगलद्वसनां मनोभू-
वेगादनङ्गरिपुरङ्ग समालिलिङ्ग ॥९॥
aaraamasiimani cha kandukaghaataliilaa
lOlaayamaana nayanaaM kamaniiM manOj~naam |
tvaameSha viikshya vigaladvasanaaM manObhu
vegaadanangaripuranga samaalilinga || 9
In the far portion of the garden, Shiva saw Thee in the form of a most beautiful damsel, whose eyes roamed about as she played with a ball. Her robes were slipping down in the course of the movements. The conqueror of Kaamadeva, Shiva, was so overcome by desire that he embraced Thee.
भूयोऽपि विद्रुतवतीमुपधाव्य देवो
वीर्यप्रमोक्षविकसत्परमार्थबोध: ।
त्वन्मानितस्तव महत्त्वमुवाच देव्यै
तत्तादृशस्त्वमव वातनिकेतनाथ ॥१०॥
bhuuyO(a)pi vidrutavatiimupadhaavya devO
viirya pramOksha vikasatparamaarthabOdhaH |
tvanmaanitastava mahatvamuvaacha devyai
tattaadR^ishastvamava vaataniketanaatha ||10
When Mohini, freed herself from Lord Siva's grasp and ran, he pursued her again. On the discharge of his virile fluid, the truth dawned on him and he came to his senses. He who was revered by Thee, sang Thy praises and extolled Thy glory to Parvati Devi and others. Oh Guruvayurappa ! May Thou of such glory, save me.
